Nestled beside the Mad River, it provides residents and travellers alike with a picnic area and lots of green space. There is a new walking path that connects Langtry St. with George St. It was constructed in 2022.

River Restoration at Carruthers Memorial Park
NVCA’s ecological restoration work on the Mad River in Clearview Township’s Carruthers Memorial Park was recently profiled in a short film by collaborators from GeoMorphix Ltd. This multi-year project was a team effort, with support from Clearview Township, Friends of the Mad River, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Fund, EcoAction, WWF, Lake Huron Georgian Bay Local Action Fund, HJ McDonald Foundation, other funders and donations from the public. GeoMorphix Ltd provided technical advice and design work for the river rocks, vegetated rock buttress and side channel. Volunteers from Friends of the Mad River, 1st Creemore Scouts and the local community helped to plant 200 native trees and shrubs along the Mad River in the park.

New Lowell is home to a beautifully kept seasonal campground and a day-use park on Silver Birch Lake. Managed privately by Jane and Willy Ivits, the day-use park comes complete with a sandy beach, picnic areas and pavilion perfect for any size function. The Ganaraska Hiking Trail connects the park to Simcoe County’s forested area to the south. Entrance to the park is by admission on the weekends.

With close to 161 hectares (400 acres) of countryside vistas, hardwood and coniferous forests, open meadows and a series of caves, the Nottawasaga Bluffs offers a full day of exploration and adventure. Location: Nottawasaga 15/16 Sideroad south of Singhampton, ONDesignated as a wetland of international significance and spanning an area of more than 6,000 hectares (15,000 acres), the Minesing Wetland is home to a diverse array of habitats. The unique assemblage of fens, marshes, swamps and bogs supports a network of sensitive flora and fauna, some rare or endangered.
Important Update: The 12' Waterfowl Viewing Platform can be accessed on Concession Rd. 2 Sunnidale, just west of McKinnon Rd. The closest intersection is McKinnon Rd. and County Rd. 90, Angus. The bridge located on Concession Rd. 2 Sunnidale is closed to vehicle traffic. Do not attempt to access the Minesing Wetlands from County Rd. 10. In addition, do not block driveway access of nearby residents, located near or adjacent to 4162 Concession 2.
